Today, Julie, MichaelJ were with us as we summited 4 peaks in Baxter State Park.

This is a map of our hike today. The red line is the route we took on the ascent. The blue line is our descent from North Brother.

A 3-D view of our hike to the summit.

[22k JPEG Image]

We started out on the Marston trail.

[22k JPEG Image]

The trail goes along the edge near a reiver before crossing and heading up the slide.

Geri and MichaelJ enjoying the view.

[22k JPEG Image]

A drink break at the start of the slide. We had temps in the 70's with bright sunshine for todays hike.

[22k JPEG Image]

As you climb the slide on Mount Coe you get some great views. Here is Geri with MichaelJ below working their way up the slide.

[22k JPEG Image]

The slide is quite long, but easy to hike provided dry weather.

[22k JPEG Image]

We had great views of DoubleTop all day.

Julie, myslef and Geri on the summit of Coe.

[22k JPEG Image]

From the summit of Coe we had a clear view of the 2nd peak on our agenda - South Brother.

[22k JPEG Image]

The trail over to South Brother is easy - except the last .3 miles that seems to be straight up. Here MichaelJ joins Geri and Julie on the summit.

[22k JPEG Image]

Here is Geri coming down the spur from South Brother.

[22k JPEG Image]

As we came out of the trees we see the summit of North Brother which was our 3rd peak of the agenda.

Geri approaching the summit of North Brother with a view of DoubleTop in the back ground.

[22k JPEG Image]

From the summit we could see our next and last peak for the day Fort. The trip over follows a very over grown herd path. Wear long pants for this!

Geri and Julie relaxing before we head out for Fort.

Looking back at South Brother and Coe.

The old military radio from plane crash many years ago which is located on the East peak. Our GPS, although not as accurate as an altimiter shows the West peak to be a few feet higher than the East peak.
