Mt Hale via Fire Wardens Trail

September 3, 2007

Decided to ascend to the summit of Mt Hale via the abandoned Fire Wardens trail today as we were looking for something fairly easy after a traverse of the Franconia Ridge yesterday.

We had no problem finding the start of the trail or following it. It is a gradual trail with 6 switch backs as it climbs through a large birch glade about halfway. Nearer the top the trail traverses the side of another summit, dropping into a small col before the final climb to the summit.

We did come across a few blow downs, but they are easy to bypass. Around the blow down area we came to some signs of the previous cabin/tower - some wires, insuslators, and some discarded barrels.
