After our long hike yesterday, we decided to tackle something a little easier today. Amy suggested we hit Mt Tecumseh and bring along our Swiss Bob sleds. We arrived a little before 11 and parked in a lower lot. The trail starts out very gentle before starting a long steady climb.
At one point there is a spur to the ski slope where we stopped for a quick snack. We had hoped to watch the skiers, but the trail was closed due to a lack of snow cover. As we continued up we came to another spur that leads to a double lift. Further on we were treated to 8 snow boarders coming down the trail.Wow did they ever smoth out the trail :> @ 3 hours after we started we came to the summit, had some snacks, fed the birds, and got our Swiss Bob sledds ready for the ride down. What a hoot! We must of sleded down 3/4's of the trail. At times we were going so fast we wished we had goggles on as we were being covered with snow. One thing we did learn is that Swiss Bobs do not corner very well - oh well - wiping out was half the fun. As we left the trail, the sun came out and we had a wonderfull view of the Trypyramids in the distance. This was a fun hike - anyone want to try this with headlamps some night??? |
